MARY OTTIELIE BLANCHE BALL<br />
Mary by name and merry by nature. Famed for<br />
her curly hair, jolly laugh. and pep at parties. Be<br />
sides French, her weaknesses are English and basket<br />
ball games. She enjoys a good time and may always<br />
be found wherever fun is. But in spite <strong>of</strong> this,<br />
Mary always makes good grades. Her jolly nature<br />
is sure to carry her far on the road to success in<br />
her chosen pr<strong>of</strong>ession <strong>of</strong> teaching. Best <strong>of</strong> luck,<br />
Mary.<br />
WILLIAM RANDOLPH BEAMISH<br />
Although “Ran” was born in Ontario, he re<br />
ceived all <strong>of</strong> his education in this province. Coming<br />
from South Burnaby High, where he won the Gov<br />
ernor General’s medal in 1926, he completed his<br />
Freshman year at this <strong>University</strong>. After a year’s<br />
absence he returned for his second and subsequent<br />
years. In his Sophomore year he took part in the<br />
activities <strong>of</strong> the Rowing Club, and during the fol<br />
lowing year held the <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> president <strong>of</strong> the Radio<br />
Club, at the same time honouring in Maths.<br />
HELEN IRENE BARR<br />
“How goes it?” and an ever-cheerful smile ade<br />
quately describes Helen. Her sincere geniality and<br />
never-lacking interest in everything pertaining to<br />
Varsity have won her many friends. Of numerous<br />
clubs she is a real member, an ardent supporter <strong>of</strong><br />
all debates and a great enthusiast <strong>of</strong> tennis. Not<br />
only in those <strong>of</strong> her class but in all the functions <strong>of</strong><br />
Varsity life she takes a well—balanced interest, giving<br />
the best she has and gaining the best they <strong>of</strong>fer.<br />
EDWARD DAVIES<br />
Ed., formerly a member <strong>of</strong> Arts ‘26, left that<br />
illustrious body at the end <strong>of</strong> his Sophomore year in<br />
order to guide benighted youngsters up the golden<br />
stairs <strong>of</strong> knowledge. He joined the ranks <strong>of</strong> ‘31<br />
last year but has not been very definitely heard from<br />
yet. He is an enigma, a member <strong>of</strong> Math, and<br />
Physics classes, with a penchant for peculiar mixtures<br />
like classical literature, photography and fishing.<br />
ALICE MIRIAM CECILIA BELL<br />
McGill will be lucky next year in the acquisition<br />
<strong>of</strong> one <strong>of</strong> the nicest girls in our Senior class. Alice<br />
was a popular student in Victoria College and now<br />
at U.B.C. continues to win the good wishes <strong>of</strong> her<br />
many friends. At present she is making a special<br />
study <strong>of</strong> English, Latin, and Philosophy, with a view<br />
to taking up <strong>Library</strong> work. During the afternoons<br />
and evenings she is to be seen guarding the reserved<br />
books in the <strong>Library</strong>.<br />
