EDITH HELEN STURDY<br />
After taking Senior Matriculation in Reveistoke,<br />
Edith came to U.B.C. in 1928. She is interested<br />
chiefly in languages—English, French and German—<br />
and intends to take a Librarian course after gradua<br />
tion. In preparation for this she utilized her sparetime<br />
in gaining practical experience in our own<br />
<strong>Library</strong>. Edith took an active interest in the Vale<br />
dictory Gift project, being a member <strong>of</strong> the com<br />
mittee. We wish her the best <strong>of</strong> luck in all her<br />
future undertakings.<br />
JACK MILTON STREIGHT<br />
Jack left Duke <strong>of</strong> Connaught High in the<br />
Royal City for Point Grey and in his Freshman year<br />
played Frosh Soccer and Intermediate Basketball.<br />
During his Sophomore and Senior years he was<br />
elected secretary-treasurer <strong>of</strong> the Varsity Men’s<br />
Basketball Club. Besides playing Senior “B” Basket<br />
ball, Jack shone in goal for the Arts ‘31 Inter-class<br />
Soccer champs. He has taken nearly everything in<br />
the way <strong>of</strong> Economics, and expects to continue in<br />
Law.<br />
JEAN ROBERTA TELFORD<br />
Freshette—on the Arts ‘31 Debating team. Sopho<br />
more—member <strong>of</strong> the Women’s Literary Society;<br />
vice-president <strong>of</strong> Arts ‘31. Junior—member <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Player’s Club; vice-president W.U.S.; Letters Club<br />
and Literary Forum. Senior—president W.U.S. Jean<br />
was the instigator <strong>of</strong> the Co-ed Fashion Show. In<br />
spite <strong>of</strong> her many Council and executive meetings,<br />
Jean makes good seconds and attends many social<br />
functions. Favourite pastime, reading plays. Future<br />
career, Interior Decorating.<br />
ALEXANDER TURNBULL<br />
Alex is doing two things at once! He is finish<br />
ing a course started in the Summer Session <strong>of</strong> 1922<br />
and he is running the biggest school in New West<br />
minster. More power to his elbow. Alex served<br />
overseas with the 72nd Battalion, C.E.F., and was<br />
decorated witls the M.C. and the M.M.<br />
CLARA-MARIE TERVO<br />
Fair! dainty! charming! That’s Clare. By<br />
her sparkling wit and pleasing manner she has made<br />
many friends. After some teaching experience in<br />
the north <strong>of</strong> <strong>British</strong> <strong>Columbia</strong>, Clare returned to<br />
Victoria College where she made a brilliant record.<br />
The following year she came to Varsity and has<br />
upheld her reputation with well-earned success. A<br />
systematic worker, she makes every minute count.<br />
She excels in languages and is an enthusiastic member<br />
<strong>of</strong> the German Club.<br />
