jN the month <strong>of</strong> May we shall witness the ceremony for the conferring<br />

<strong>of</strong> degrees upon the Class <strong>of</strong> 1931. This formal acknowledgment by<br />

the <strong>University</strong> authorities that the prescribed course <strong>of</strong> studies has been<br />

completed, does not imply the severance <strong>of</strong> relations between the mem<br />

bers <strong>of</strong> this Class and their Alma Mater; rather does it signify that those<br />

upon whom the degrees have been conferred have been admitted into a<br />

fraternity which embraces in its membership all <strong>University</strong> men and<br />

women everywhere.<br />

Fortunately, this larger fellowship need not result in a loss <strong>of</strong> interest<br />

in the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>British</strong> <strong>Columbia</strong>. I therefore express the hope that<br />

you will continue to hold in affectionate regard the associations <strong>of</strong> your<br />
