The Family Resources certificate prepares students to work with<br />

families, identify needs, and acquire resources that strengthen<br />

family functioning. The Family Resources Specialist assists the<br />

family to gain mastery and control over important aspects of<br />

family functioning which include skills in assisting and<br />

controlling needed resources, decision making, problem<br />

solving, communication, parenting, and child development<br />

education. This certificate is designed to meet the needs of<br />

persons interested in careers working with families in programs,<br />

agencies, organizations, and resource centers that provide<br />

The certificate in Family Support focuses on assisting the family<br />

unit in setting and achieving goals toward self-sufficiency.<br />

Knowledge of family life, communication, abuse, stress, crisis<br />

and community resources and referrals are examined. The<br />

certificate enhances the education and career of individuals<br />

interested in working with families or in agencies that provide<br />

services to families, or those who are presently involved with<br />

families and/or their supporting agencies.<br />
