Dental Assisting<br />

Certificate of Completion — CCL 5264<br />

40.5-44.5 Credits<br />

The Certificate of Completion in Dental Assisting can be<br />

achieved by the full-time student in two semesters. For students<br />

enrolled part-time, completion of the program will take four<br />

semesters. Successful completion of the Certificate Program<br />

will provide the student with advanced level skills for<br />

employment in dental facilities.<br />

Program Notes: The Dental Assisting program is accredited by<br />

the American Dental Association’s Commission on Dental<br />

Accreditation. (211 E. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL 60611-2678;<br />

(312) 440-4653). Graduates are eligible to take the Dental<br />

Assisting National Board (216 E. Ontario St., Chicago, IL 60611)<br />

Certification Exam in Chairside Assisting for the designation<br />

CDA-Certified Dental Assistant, and the Arizona State<br />

Certification in Radiation Health and Safety Exam.<br />

Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses<br />

required within the program.<br />

Admission Criteria: A high school diploma or GED equivalency<br />

is required. An application for admission to the Dental<br />

Assisting Program can be obtained from the Program Director<br />

or the Health Professions and Nursing Advisor.<br />

Program Prerequisites: 7.5-11.5 Credits<br />

Note: The credit hour range is subject to change depending on<br />

the student’s educational experience.<br />

Option 1: 7.5 Credits<br />

HCC courses are waived for students who have completed an<br />

Associate in Applied Science degree or higher degree in a health<br />

science discipline from a regionally accredited institution of<br />

higher education recognized by <strong>Maricopa</strong> County Community<br />

<strong>College</strong> District.<br />
