This Certificate of Completion in Secondary Basic Emergency<br />

Medical Technology program is designed for students attending<br />

one of the <strong>Phoenix</strong> Union High Schools who are interested in<br />

Basic Emergency Medical Technology and meets the training<br />

requirements of the Arizona Department of Health Services.<br />

Students develop the techniques of emergency care,<br />

stabilization, and immobilization of victims of illness and injury,<br />

recognition and documentation of the signs and symptoms of<br />

illness and injury, intervention, and the evaluation of<br />

interventions. Additionally, techniques for assessment,<br />

administration of oxygen, use of specific immobilization<br />

devices, and preparation of the victim/patient for<br />

transportation are included.<br />

Program Notes: Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in<br />

all courses required within the program.<br />

Admission Criteria: Currently enrolled in the <strong>Phoenix</strong> Union<br />

High School District.<br />

Program Description:<br />

The <strong>Maricopa</strong> Community <strong>College</strong> District Nursing Program<br />

(MCCDNP) is available at seven <strong>Maricopa</strong> <strong>College</strong>s. The<br />

nursing pathway provides multiple exit points for employment<br />

that begins with the Nurse-Assisting course and continues to<br />

the Practical Nurse Certificate and Registered Nurse Degree<br />

program. The nursing program provides eligibility for the<br />

students to seek certification and licensure through the Arizona<br />

State Board of Nursing. Licensing requirements are the<br />

exclusive responsibility of the Arizona State Board of Nursing .<br />

The MCCD Nursing Program is approved by the Arizona State<br />

Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for<br />

Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), 61 Broadway 33rd<br />
