and prepare budget forecasts. They are involved in the control of<br />

distribution, the organization and physical layout of the merchandise,<br />

and the visual presentation and merchandising of goods. They<br />

participate in the organization of promotional, advertising and public<br />

relations, and in customer service. While focusing on current fashion<br />

trends, students will acquire an understanding of fashion terminology,<br />

the consumers of fashion, and the specific marketing strategies used<br />

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of marketing in<br />

the sports and entertainment industries. Students will explore product<br />

branding, licensing, sponsorships, pricing, placement, promotion,<br />

event marketing, advertising, and implementation of sports and<br />

entertainment marketing plans. Students will create a football<br />

franchise using a virtual sports simulation. Students will gain an<br />

understanding of how the sports and entertainment industries impact<br />

the economy and will understand how culture and diversity affect<br />

sports and entertainment markets. Students will understand the<br />

importance of teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.<br />

Students will evaluate and use information resources to accomplish<br />

specific tasks and will deliver presentations using appropriate media<br />

to engage and inform audiences.<br />

This course is designed for college-bound as well as non-college<br />

bound students interested in a career in marketing. The course<br />

combines classroom instruction with supervised on-the-job training<br />

where the student practices marketing skills learned in the classroom,<br />

at an approved training station (job location), with a qualified<br />

supervisor. Students enrolled in this course must be 16 years old and<br />

work a minimum of 15 hours per week. Students are expected to<br />

maintain their marketing job for the entire school year. Instruction<br />

emphasizes essential topics such as marketing principles and<br />

practices and the functions of marketing which include: marketinginformation<br />

management, selling, financing, pricing, promotion,<br />

product/service management, and distribution. Students enrolled in<br />

this course must provide their own transportation.<br />

This course is a continuation of Marketing Dynamics. The advanced<br />

cooperative program allows students to further develop necessary<br />

marketing competencies. Students continue with a combination of<br />

classroom instruction and on-the-job training. Instruction focuses on<br />

accelerated marketing topics such as: marketing function,<br />

entrepreneurship, free enterprise system, selling, merchandising,<br />

buying, promotion, business environment, and law and ethics.<br />

Students enrolled in this course must provide their own<br />

transportation.<br />
