twelve. In Health I, students develop skills that will help them to<br />

become health-literate adults. Students gain a deeper understanding<br />

of the knowledge and behaviors they use to safeguard their health,<br />

particularly pertaining to health risks. Students are taught how to<br />

access accurate information that they can use to promote health for<br />

themselves and others in such areas as fitness, nutrition,<br />

mental/emotional health, substance abuse, and interpersonal<br />

relationships. Students use problem-solving, research, goal-setting,<br />

and communication skills to protect their health and that of the<br />

community.<br />

What’s next? Health Science (Clinical Rotation I)<br />

Principles of Health Science is designed to provide students the<br />

opportunity for comprehensive study of human anatomy and<br />

physiology, medical terms, intro to basic patient care skills, AHA First<br />

Aid and CPR certification, as well as health career exploration.<br />

Students will also address the relevance of this class to today's health<br />

care industry. This course is the required prerequisite for Health<br />

Science. Successful completion of both semesters of this<br />

course will satisfy the Health credit required for graduation.<br />
