What's Next? American Sign Language II<br />
American Sign Language I is an introduction to the language and the<br />
culture. The main emphasis is on communication while developing<br />
receptive and productive skills. The student will be guided in<br />
recognizing the interrelationships of languages and will develop a<br />
cultural appreciation of the deaf world. The expected outcome of this<br />
course will be developing novice mid proficiency. This course is<br />
conducted in ASL (without voice) a significant amount of time.<br />

American Sign Language II continues to develop communicative<br />
skills. The major emphasis is on developing receptive and productive<br />
language skills. Expansion of vocabulary and grammatical structures<br />
continues, and further exploration of Deaf Culture will be addressed<br />
and explored. The expected outcome of this course will be<br />
developing novice high proficiency. This course is conducted in<br />
ASL (without voice) a significant amount of time.<br />
American Sign Language III is an intermediate level class for students<br />
who have successfully completed ASL 1 and 2. Students will continue<br />
to build upon their expressive and receptive language and vocabulary<br />
skills. Learning to recognize and produce ASL sentences using<br />
grammatical features such as location classifiers, quantifiers,<br />
temporal aspect inflection, and spatial agreement will be emphasized.<br />
Students continue cultural exploration of the Deaf Community. The<br />
expected outcome of this course will be developing intermediate<br />
mid/high proficiency. This course is conducted in ASL (without<br />
voice) a significant amount of time.<br />
