General Meeting of the Shareholders<br />
As st<strong>at</strong>utory auditors, we have audited the accounting records and the financial st<strong>at</strong>ements (profit and loss<br />
account, balance sheet, and notes set out on pages 66 to 75) of <strong>EFG</strong> <strong>Bank</strong> European Financial <strong>Group</strong> for<br />
the year ended <strong>December</strong> <strong>31</strong>, <strong>2003</strong>.<br />
These financial st<strong>at</strong>ements are the responsibility of the Board of Directors. Our responsibility is to express<br />
an opinion on these financial st<strong>at</strong>ements b<strong>as</strong>ed on our audit. We confirm th<strong>at</strong> we meet the legal<br />
requirements concerning professional qualific<strong>at</strong>ion and independence.<br />
Our audit w<strong>as</strong> conducted in accordance with auditing standards promulg<strong>at</strong>ed by the Swiss profession,<br />
which require th<strong>at</strong> an audit be planned and performed to obtain re<strong>as</strong>onable <strong>as</strong>surance about whether the<br />
financial st<strong>at</strong>ements are free from m<strong>at</strong>erial misst<strong>at</strong>ement. We have examined on a test b<strong>as</strong>is evidence<br />
supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial st<strong>at</strong>ements. We have also <strong>as</strong>sessed the accounting<br />
principles used, significant estim<strong>at</strong>es made, and the overall financial st<strong>at</strong>ement present<strong>at</strong>ion. We believe<br />
th<strong>at</strong> our audit provides a re<strong>as</strong>onable b<strong>as</strong>is for our opinion.<br />
In our opinion, the accounting records, the financial st<strong>at</strong>ements and the proposed appropri<strong>at</strong>ion of<br />
available earnings comply with Swiss law and the company’s articles of incorpor<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />
We recommend th<strong>at</strong> the financial st<strong>at</strong>ements submitted to you be approved.<br />
