Transferring a Call to a Mailbox<br />

When you answered a call, and the caller wants to talk to someone who<br />

the caller knows is not available, you can place the caller into one of the<br />

mailboxes, where the caller can leave a message.<br />

The following is how calls must be transferred to a mailbox:<br />

After you answered a call, you may announce that person the caller<br />

wishes to speak to is not available, and remind the caller to press the #<br />

sign and the mailbox number if necessary.<br />

•The call is put on hold.<br />

After you press (9) :<br />

The caller will then hear the line’s greeting message (p. 28), and while that<br />

message is playing the caller can press (#)(1) (Mailbox 1), (#)(2) (Mailbox 2)<br />

or (#)(3) (Mailbox 3). After that the caller will hear “Please leave your message”.<br />

The caller can leave a message in the mailbox.<br />

OR<br />

If the caller does not specify the mailbox, the caller can leave a message in<br />

Mailbox 1 after the greeting message.<br />

•Even if you subscribed to a Caller ID service (p. 40), caller information will not<br />

display while the caller is recording a message or the message is being played.<br />

The caller information will be recorded in the Caller List (p. 41) if the transferred<br />

call is an in-coming call.<br />

Interrupting remote operation (p. 94)<br />

If a user is accessing a mailbox from a remote location, and you<br />

mistakenly answer the call;<br />

1. Press (HOLD) (TRANSFER) on the handset or<br />

(LOCATOR/INTERCOM/TRANSFER) on the base unit.<br />

2. Press (9).<br />

The user can then access a mailbox, by entering the remote code or<br />

the mailbox password (see “Remote Operation from a Touch Tone<br />

Phone”, p. 94).<br />
