The health care cost trend rates assumption has a significant effect on the amounts reported. To illustrate, increasing the
assumed health care cost trend rates by one percent in each year would increase the accumulated post-employment benefit
obligation (APBO) as of September 2007 by US$14 million (September 2006: US$13 million) and the aggregate of the service
and interest cost components of net periodic post-employment benefit cost for the year then ended by US$1 million
(September 2006: US$2 million).
