Non-Substantive Changes to the State Constitution - H.J.R. 75

The Texas Constitution contains provisions which are obsolete, archaic, redundant, and unnecessary.
Numerous duplicate, executed, and archaic clauses could be repealed or amended without changing the
substance of the document. Reformatting the constitution to consolidate duplicate provisions and to delete
language that has become outdated will make the document less complex and easier to understand. H.J.R.
75 requires the submission to the voters of a constitutional amendment providing for the reformatting of the
constitution to address these issues.
Tejano Monument on Capitol Grounds - H.C.R. 38

Senate Sponsor: Senator Gallegos
Provides that the 77th Texas Legislature hereby approves the construction of a statue or monument on the
Capitol grounds that pays tribute to the contributions of Tejanos to the State of Texas, subject to the rules
of the State Preservation Board.
Requires the statue or monument to be wholly funded by private donations and prohibits donors' names
from being inscribed on the statue or monument.
