230. Mr. Butaye pointed out that his company was an independent broker which worked<br />
with 20 different insurance companies. As far as fellows were concerned, as he had<br />
mentioned before, <strong>the</strong>ir main insurance company was Les Assurances Générales de<br />
France, member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Allianz Group. Dependency coverage was not provided by <strong>the</strong><br />
fellowship insurance. If a fellow had already returned home, <strong>the</strong> reimbursement fee<br />
could be transferred to <strong>the</strong> administering organization or could be sent by check. Reimbursement<br />
was based on <strong>the</strong> information provided on <strong>the</strong> claim form. Fellows in <strong>the</strong><br />
United Kingdom could rely on state coverage. It was up to <strong>the</strong> UN agencies to decide<br />
whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> services provided by <strong>the</strong> British Government equaled those <strong>of</strong> Vanbreda.<br />
Currently, very few fellows in <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom recovered expenses with Vanbreda<br />
International. The British Council noted that Government services did not necessarily<br />
match <strong>the</strong> medical insurance <strong>of</strong>fered by Vanbreda.
