In December 2008, the service agreement with the Walden Lake golf course was signed, and the cooperative funding agreement
was executed on March 9, 2009. The City began the project design with the consultant on April 7, 2009, and has completed design
plans and specifications. In August 2010, the City requested a 6 month time extension of the dates for construction. The City
needed additional time to obtain railroad crossing agreements and additional easements for construction. The time extension did
not affect the contract termination date, and a response letter was sent to the City on September 7, 2010, approving this request. In
March 2011, the City informed the District that the Walden Lake Golf Course filed chapter 11 bankruptcy, which involves
reorganizing finances. The golf course plans to continue operating through the process and the City is confident that the golf
course will continue to be a viable option. The City is currently identifying additional customers along the proposed reclaimed
line's route that could beneficially use the reclaimed water in lieu of the golf course. ACTION TO DATE: In July 2011, the Governing
Board approved staff recommendation to amend the existing agreement to: upsize the Sydney Road line from 18" to 24", extend
the termination date from December 31, 2012 to December 31, 2014, the addition of the Park Road transmission line to serve
additional customers, and increase the District funding contribution by $1,005,000, for a total project cost of $6,126,000. The first
amendment was executed on February 2, 2012. The City revised and updated the bid documents for the Sydney Road line and the
project was advertised on December 30, 2011. Bids have been received for the Sydney Road line and are being evaluated. The
City plans to begin construction on the Sydney Road line by March 12, 2012, and the Park Road line by May 30, 2013.
