GOALS:<br />
The goal,s of the Association include but not limited to:<br />

A. Unify Filipino- American Nurses in the USA and its territories.<br />
• PNAVA sent the following delegates to the 26 th Annual National <br />
Convention in Kansa City, July 2005,a th Eastern Regional Conference <br />
"Winning Cards in Creating Partnership For A Preferred Future" held in <br />
Atlantic City Convention Center on October 21- 23,2005 and again the <br />
2ih Annual National Convention this year in Boston, Massachusetts. <br />
B. Develop, implement and evaluate programs in nursing leadership,<br />
. practice, education and research relevant to professional growth of <br />
its members and healthcare needs of the community. <br />
• Carmina Bautista was nominated the "Clinical Nurse of the Year" by <br />
<strong>PNAA</strong> and will receive her award in July at the National convention in <br />
Boston. We are so proud of her. <br />
• Guia Caliwagan, Pres.- elect is a participant in the Mentee/ Mentor <br />
program 2006 of the National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurses <br />
Association. <br />
C. Facilitate professional and cultural adjustment of Filipino<br />
American Nurses in the USA through collaboration with <br />
agencies <br />
and organizations in the USA and the Philippines. <br />
• Seminar on Cardiovascular Disease Update: A Contemporary . <br />
Approach To Global Risk Factor Management was held on November <br />
12,2005 . On March 4,2006, the Chapter's theme" Partnership in <br />
Leadership was echoed in educational seminar entitled "Leaders: <br />
Managing Oneself' wit Rey Rivera as the keynote speaker. <br />
Management of COPD in-service was held on May 2, 2006 presented ' <br />
by Dr. Thomas Scott, Assoc. Professor, EVMS dept. of Internal <br />
Medicine. Quartely inservices are scheduled and are coordinated and <br />
chaired by Perry Francisco and Carmina Bautis <br />
• The PNA of Virginia has partnered with the organization "Physician for <br />
Peace" headed by Dr. Juan Montero, who is also the foundefof <br />
Chesapeake Free Clinic in Chesapeake, Virginia. One of the missions <br />
of this organization is to help the indigent Filipinos in different regions . <br />
of the Philippines, from elderly to the children.
