• in <strong>PNAA</strong> conferences that deal with immigration issues, acculturation and<br />
mentoring program<br />
• Responded to human rights issues involving some nurses in one chapter.<br />
Met with three nurses with human rights issues and based on information<br />
presented that assistance by <strong>PNAA</strong> is no longer appropriate.<br />
• Chairperson communicated with some Philippine delegates at the Nursing<br />
International Conference held in Hawaii in January 2006 regarding<br />
human rights issues, related practices in the Philippines and some<br />
interventions to help alleviate problems.<br />

Recommendations:<br />
• To assess clippings, documents on Human Rights that are sent to us for<br />
possible inclusion in <strong>PNAA</strong> Archives.<br />
• To include human rights or related information in the <strong>PNAA</strong> Web for better<br />
awareness of issues.<br />
• To develop/prepare a brochure or handout regarding human rights issues<br />
and proactive actions for positive outcome. Enlist assistance from our legal '<br />
consultant.<br />
• Promote more acculturation/ mentoring programs of new nurses in the<br />
chapter level. Be advocate to new recruits from the Philippines.<br />
• Enlist Chapter President's assistance to communicate human rights<br />
or related issues to <strong>PNAA</strong> Human Rights Committee in a timely manner<br />
or at the earliest possible time.<br />
• Increase collaborative effort with PNA-Philippines for programs <br />
regarding human rights issues before coming to U.S. <br />
• Collaborate more with other agencies such as the Consulate, POEA<br />
and other appropriate agencies for proactive measures on human<br />
, rights issues.
