The spirit of vibrant volunteerism continues to intensify in North Carolina. The current crop of .<br />
Executive Board members builds on the chapter's solid foundation. The full support from great<br />
educational institutions particularly Duke University and UNC-Chapel Hill in our cause is forging a<br />
culture of professionalism. Our monthly meetings are now held at Duke University's School of<br />
Nursing Conference room. Our members are emboldened in illuminating the PNA's core value~ of<br />
viability, vitality and visibility in the nursing community. A dynamic team of visionaries from the<br />
PNANC exemplifies the best values of Filipino nurses.<br />
1. Unify Filipino-American Nurses in the US and its territories.<br />
~ Hold regular EB monthly on the 2 nd Saturday of each month at the Duke University School Of Nursing<br />
Conference Room <br />
~ Active recruitment and retention of new membership throughout North Carolina <br />
~ Holding acculturation programs to newly arrived nurses. <br />
~ Implementation of a buddy system for newly arrived nurses. <br />
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate programs in nursing leadership, practice, education, and<br />
research relevant to the professional growth of its members and healthcare needs of the<br />
community. . .<br />
~ 3 rd <strong>Biennial</strong> Nursing Conference at IDA Friday Center (UNC-CH) on September 09, 2006 <br />
~ Cultural Diversity Seminars held in different NC cities <br />
~ Continuous survey/assessment of educative, professional and other needs of Filipino NC nurses <br />
3. Facilitate professional and cultural adjustment of Filipino-American Nurses in the USA through<br />
collaboration with agencies and organization in the USA and in the Philippines.<br />
~ Cultural Diversity Seminars held in different NC cities<br />
~ The 2 nd Annual Gabriel Gift of Books Drive underway<br />
~ The 1 5t PNANC Leadership Scholar (L. Pascual Scholarship) will be awarded this June to a deserving student<br />
leader at Arellano University <br />
~ 2 nd Bowling Tournament currently midway in the season <br />
~ 2 nd Basketball Tournament will be commence in September 2006 <br />
~ Proactive collaboration between the mentoring committee arid new members <br />
4. Participated actively in professional and cultural activities with professional organizations and<br />
agencies in the community and globally.<br />
~ Participating in the bi-monthly free immunization clinics within the triangle area<br />
~ Offering free BLS classes to other Filipino Organizations within the area<br />
~ Active participation in Carolina Medical Mission set for Dumaguete City 2007<br />
~ Continued involvemenlin Habitat for Humanity, Durham Rescue Mission, Lotsa Hands healing Programs<br />
~ Creation of Public Relations and Community Service Committees<br />
5. Review and act on the legislation and public policies, with directly and indirectly affect healthcare<br />
and nursing practices. . .. .• .. . ..<br />
~ Pass amendment on elected officers' attendance requirements and modify classes of membership .<br />
~ Improvements to th~ Chapter website and electronic publication of official newsletter underway; improvement<br />
. offunctional related links to US and RP agencies completed. <br />
~ Active participation to the NC Nurses Association's policy development meetings <br />
The success of our activities and programs greatly depend on the renewed culture of involvement<br />
and the renaissance of each member's passion to serve.<br />
