• Provided leadersbip in organizing tbe 5 th International N~rsing Conference scbeduled in<br />
Honolulu, Hawaii on January 25-27, 2006. Met witb PNA President, Rutb Padilla, in<br />
Manila in January and in Los Angeles in June to finalize plan for tbe International<br />
conference.<br />
Goal # 4: Participate actively in professional and cultural activities witb professional organizations <br />
and agencies in tbe community and globally. <br />

Attended the Filipino Veterans Foundation 63 rd Anniversary Celebration ofthe US<br />
Armed Forces in the Far East to honor Filipino US Veterans on July 25,<strong>2004</strong>. Also<br />
participated at the Forum and meeting as a speaker representing <strong>PNAA</strong> and as a Primary<br />
Care Provider in the VA Healthcare on April 9, 2005<br />
Invited by Dr Jenny Batongmalaque, Executive Director, to serve as Board member of<br />
the Filipino Veterans Foundation.<br />
Participated at the Kalayaan 2005, Philippine Independence Day celebration at Sheraton<br />
Hotel Universal in Los Angeles, CA on June 11,2005<br />
Collaborated with the Philippine Medical Association of Southern·California and Health<br />
Care Services International in leading a Medical Mission Project in Iba, Zambales in the<br />
Philippines on January 23-27, 2005. Served as volunteer Nurse Executive/ consultant for<br />
HCSI in organizing the yearly medical missions to underserved areas in the Philippines.<br />
Goal # 5: Review and act on legislation and public policies tbat directly and indirectly affect<br />
bealtbcare and nursing practices. .<br />
STRATEGIES:<br />
• Supported initiatives to eliminate bealtbcare disparities for etbnic minorities<br />
• Supported ANA's Nursing Agenda for tbe Future<br />
• Endorsed legislation on Workforce Development, Safe Practice, Patient-Nurse staffing ratio ·<br />
and otbers.<br />
Cballenges for tbe Future <br />
I challenge all ofyou to continue to look for opportunities beyond the horizon and to strengthen our <br />
Partnerships as we continue our successfuljoumey to move <strong>PNAA</strong> to its envisioned Preferred Future. <br />
That Future is NOW. . . . <br />
I commend the leadership team and members ofPNA Greater Kansas City for their commitment and <br />
team work in accepting this responsibility of hosting this Convention. <br />
I also send my sincere appreciation and deepest gratitude to all the special people who have given me <br />
their wholehearted support and caring. The first year ofmy leadership has been filled with challenging <br />
and enriching learning experiences that I will cherish in my lifetime. I learned my lessons from those <br />
life's experiences and will surely help me be prepared to be a better leader tomorrow. . <br />
