NOTE<br />

Hood repair procedures include the following restrictions.<br />

1. Do not attempt to repair facepiece hood if it is separated from faceblank. Replace facepiece assembly.<br />

2. Do not apply more than three patches per hood.<br />

3. Do not overlap patches.<br />

4. Do not repair hood if:<br />

(a) Tears are longer than 1 inch<br />

(b) Holes are larger than 1 inch in diameter<br />

(c) Tears or holes are less than 2 inches apart<br />

(d) Tears or holes are on strapped seams<br />

(e) Tears or holes are within 2 inches of faceblank<br />

CAUTION<br />

When performing maintenance on the mask, do not scratch the plastic lenses.<br />

Keep work area clean. Dirt in or on items could prevent airtight integrity.<br />

1. Locate chafed, torn, or punctured area on hood.<br />

2. Clean and dry damaged area with dry cloth.<br />

3. Buff area lightly but thoroughly with abrasive strip (1).
