BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION<br />

MINOR IN COMMUNICATION MANAGEMENT<br />

The minor in Communication Management is an interdisciplinary program that studies both<br />

advertising and public relations as part of the management of communication processes by<br />

combining mass media, speech communication, marketing, and business principles.<br />

The requirement for the minor in Communication Management is the completion of 21<br />

semester hours as follows:<br />

Twelve hours of required study consisting of the following courses:<br />

COMM 3362 Media Law and Policy<br />

MGMT 2301 Management of Organizations<br />

MKTG 2301 Principles of Marketing<br />

SPCH 3334 Persuasion<br />

Nine hours in elective courses from the following courses:<br />

COMM 3324 Ethics and the Mass Media<br />

COMM 3360 Principles of Public Relations<br />

COMM 3361 Principles of Advertising<br />

MGMT 3371 Human Resources Management<br />

MGMT 3372 Organizational Behavior<br />

MKTG 3381 Consumer Behavior<br />

MKTG 3382 Promotion Management<br />

MKTG 4381 Marketing Management<br />

SPCH 3362/<br />

BUSN 3311 Organizational Communication<br />

*SPCH 4397 Internship<br />

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS<br />

ADMINISTRATION DEGREE<br />

The requirements for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree are as<br />

follows:<br />

I. The common curriculum<br />

II. A core curriculum in Business Administration (27 hours): ACCT 1301, 1302; BUSN 2301,<br />

3302, 4301*; FNCE 3301**; MGMT 2301; MIS 2301; and MKTG 2301.<br />

III. Completion of BUSN 3303.<br />

Completion of a concentration in Business Administration, choosing from one of the<br />

following: Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, and International Business. No<br />

course taken by a student may count toward more than one concentration requirement.<br />

A. Accounting Concentration: Students choosing this concentration must complete<br />

ACCT 3341, 3342, 3343, 4344, and BUSN 3341. Prospective students should note<br />

that this concentration only partially satisfies the educational requirements for the<br />

Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in the state of Texas. The<br />

Department of Business Administration offers a two-semester Master of Science in<br />

Accounting degree program. Upon completion of the program, the student is<br />

awarded the degree of Master of Science in Accounting and is qualified to take the<br />

Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in the state of Texas. Students<br />

interested in this program may obtain material describing prerequisite courses, the<br />

course of study, and admission procedures and requirements from the Department<br />

of Business Administration.<br />

B. Finance Concentration: Students choosing this concentration should complete<br />
