d. Five upper division courses in International Politics or Comparative<br />

Politics (15 hours).<br />

e. One course from the following disciplines outside the Department of<br />

Political Science (3 hours):<br />

Modern Languages and Literatures: ML&L 3301 and higher. Economics:<br />

ECON 2318 (Global Economy) or 3327 (Comparative Economic<br />

Systems).<br />

History: Any upper division course with a focus on Latin American,<br />

sub-Saharan Africa, East Asia, the Middle East, or Europe (to<br />

be approved by the advisor).<br />

3. American Politics<br />

This concentration is designed for students who anticipate graduate studies in<br />

American politics or related fields. This concentration is also designed for<br />

students interested in political campaigns or public affairs.<br />

a. Lower division requirements (9 hours).<br />

b. Distribution of courses in five subfields:<br />

The student is required to take at least one course in each of the<br />

discipline’s five major fields (American Politics, Comparative Politics,<br />

International Politics, Public Law, and Political Theory. Judicial Process<br />

can be used to satisfy the Public Law requirement). Lower division<br />

courses may be used to satisfy this distribution requirement.<br />

c. Seven upper division courses in American Politics and/or Constitutional<br />

Law (21 hours).<br />

d. ECON 1311, 1312 (6 hours).<br />

e. Research Methods in Political Science (PLSI 3372) or a research<br />

methods course offered by another department that is approved by the<br />

advisor (3 hours).<br />

4. American Politics and Law<br />

This concentration is designed for students who plan to attend law school. In<br />

addition to courses in political science, this concentration requires students to<br />

take courses that are designed to help develop analytical skills required for<br />

legal studies.<br />

a. Lower division requirements (9 hours).<br />

b. Distribution of courses in five subfields:<br />

The student is required to take at least one course in each of the<br />

discipline’s five major fields (American Politics, Comparative Politics,<br />

International Politics, Public Law, and Political Theory. Judicial Process<br />
