Special Topics in Political Theory<br />

Occasionally courses will be offered on special topics. Students are encouraged to<br />

bring to the attention of the Department Chair topics they wish to have offered.<br />

Students may take this course more than once provided the topics vary.<br />

SPECIAL COURSES<br />

Reading and Conference<br />

Individual work under supervision. Varies in credit from one to six credit hours.<br />

Prerequisites: Junior standing with 6 hours upper division credit and consent of<br />

instructor.<br />

Internship in Politics, Administration, and Law<br />

Students enrolled in PLSI 3-97 will be assigned to various party, governmental, or<br />

law offices on the basis of individual preferences and the availability of the<br />

assignments. The nature of the student’s responsibilities will vary with the<br />

assignment involved and subject to the approval of the supervising faculty. Must be<br />

taken Pass/Fail. Permission from the instructor required.<br />

Research Methods in Political Science<br />

An introduction to basic research techniques used in contemporary political science<br />

with emphasis on research design, data collection and analysis, and the use of the<br />

computer in analyzing data. Attention will be given to survey research and survey<br />

data, election data, census data, government data and statistics, and budget data.<br />

Senior Seminar in Political Science<br />

An in-depth study of selected themes in the discipline of political science. Secondsemester<br />

juniors who are studying off-campus in the first semester of their senior<br />

year may enroll in this course with the consent of the instructor. Consent of the<br />

instructor is required for non-majors. This course satisfies the Senior Experience<br />

requirement of the <strong>University</strong>’s Common Curriculum.<br />
