ARAB3016 Intensive Arabic III (FA) Leads to greater<br />

facility in the spoken language and continues to develop<br />

reading and writing skills. Continued emphasis on morphology<br />

ARAB3013 Intermediate Arabic IV (FA, SP)<br />

Continued development <strong>of</strong> speaking, comprehension, reading<br />

and writing. Completes introduction <strong>of</strong> standard language<br />

skills required for functional ability in an Arabic-speaking<br />

environment. Prerequisite: ARAB 3003.<br />

ARAB4016 Intensive Arabic IV (SP) Continued<br />

Reading assignments introduce a variety <strong>of</strong> styles ranging<br />

Introduction <strong>of</strong> formal principles and strategies used in space<br />

making, focusing on the development <strong>of</strong> plans and sections.<br />

Precedents and the understanding <strong>of</strong> them through analysis<br />

and syntheses are used as a means <strong>of</strong> examining the past<br />

and the present while providing a framework from which personal<br />

design sensibilities can evolve. Corequisite: ARCH<br />

2114 and ARCH 2233. Prerequisite: ARCH 1025.<br />

ARCH2026 Architectural Design IV (SP) An elaboration<br />

<strong>of</strong> space-making, addressing three-dimensional<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> form-making, including the influence <strong>of</strong> structural<br />

systems, articulation <strong>of</strong> the vertical section, and exterior<br />

expression; the role <strong>of</strong> site as a generator <strong>of</strong> form; and the<br />

overarching importance <strong>of</strong> technics, including the materiality<br />

<strong>of</strong> space, structure, and light. Corequisite: ARCH 2124.<br />

ARCH2114 Architecture Technology I (FA)<br />

Introduction to the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> building systems technology.<br />

Emphasis on the interrelationships <strong>of</strong> site, environmental,<br />

structure, and enclosure systems. Focus on the integration<br />

<strong>of</strong> all systems within the conceptual and functional<br />

organization <strong>of</strong> the building and its context. Corequisite:<br />

ARCH 2016. Prerequisite: ARCH 1025 and ARCH 1221.<br />

ARCH2114H Honors Architecture Technology I<br />
