Students will develop skills in transcribing music using music<br />

Students will learn how to use MIDI sequencing and audio<br />

recording and editing s<strong>of</strong>tware to produce accompaniment<br />

tracks and create compact discs <strong>of</strong> music and multimedia<br />

MUAC2141 Class Instruction in Oboe, Bassoon,<br />

teaching opportunities with public school students in instrumental,<br />

choral, and elementary classes. Prerequisite: instrumental<br />

emphasis (band): MUAC 1221 & MUAC 1231, MUAC<br />

1331, MUAC 1341, MUAC 1351, MUAC 1361 & MUAC 1371.<br />

prerequisite for instrumental emphasis (string): MUAC 1221 &<br />

classroom and will participate in other activities<br />

involving the school and community. Enrollment requirement<br />

is for a total <strong>of</strong> 12 hours and 15 weeks involvement in 452V<br />

and 451V. Corequisite: MUED 452. Prerequisite: Bachelor <strong>of</strong><br />

Music degree in Music Education.<br />

MUED5973 Tests and Measurement in Music<br />

(FA, Odd years) This course will address the psychometric<br />

concepts <strong>of</strong> tests and measurement <strong>of</strong> music achievement,<br />

aptitude, attitude, and self assessment. The course will<br />

focus on the teaching and assessment <strong>of</strong> musical skills,<br />

musical responses, and will critically examine existing aptitude<br />

tests (Seashore, Watkins Farnum, Gordon, etc). Basic<br />

statistical concepts and data analysis used in common testing<br />

scenarios will be introduced. Prerequisite: graduate<br />

standing in music.<br />

MUED5983 Psychology <strong>of</strong> Music Behavior (SP,<br />

Even years) This course is an introduction to the psychology<br />

<strong>of</strong> music, and will adopt an interdisciplinary view toward<br />

the field, covering such topics as philosophical and sociological<br />

questions about the nature and function <strong>of</strong> music, the<br />

physiology <strong>of</strong> the ear, the physical and perceptual properties<br />

<strong>of</strong> sounds (acoustics), performance anxiety, preference and<br />

taste research, social and pedagogical attributes <strong>of</strong> performance,<br />

and behavioral musical responses. Prerequisite: graduate<br />
