TECHNOLOGY<br />
MLT 101 Introduction to Medical Laboratory<br />
Technology (1-3-2)<br />
This course provides an introduction to laboratory medicine,<br />
including techniques for routine laboratory procedures, medical<br />
terminology, safety, and an overview of each area within the<br />
laboratory.<br />
MLT 105 Medical Microbiology (3-3-4)<br />
This course provides a survey of organisms encountered in the<br />
clinical microbiology laboratory, including sterilization and<br />
disinfection techniques.<br />
MLT 108 Urinalysis and Body Fluids (2-3-3)<br />
This course introduces the routine analysis and clinical significance<br />
of urine and other body fluids.<br />
MLT 110 Hematology (3-3-4)<br />
This course provides a study of the basic principles of hematology,<br />
including hemoglobins, hematocrits, white and red<br />
counts, and identification of blood cells.<br />
MLT 115 Immunology (2-3-3)<br />
This course provides a study of the immune system, disease<br />
states, and the basic principles of immunological testing.<br />
Prerequisite: MLT 120.<br />
MLT 120 Immunohematology (3-3-4)<br />
This course introduces the theory and practice of blood banking,<br />
including the ABO, RH and other blood group systems,<br />
compatibility testing, and HDN.<br />
MLT 130 Clinical Chemistry (3-3-4)<br />
This course focuses on the study of nutritional, functional, and<br />
excretional chemicals in blood and body fluids including testing<br />
techniques and clinical significance.<br />
MLT 205 Advanced Microbiology (3-3-4)<br />
This course provides a detailed study of microorganisms and<br />
the currently accepted procedures for identification of these<br />
microorganisms in the clinical laboratory. Prerequisite: MLT 105.<br />
MLT 210 Advanced Hematology (3-3-4)<br />
This course provides a study of the diseases of blood cells and<br />
other hematologic procedures including coagulation.<br />
Prerequisite: MLT 110.<br />
MLT 230 Advanced Clinical Chemistry (3-3-4)<br />
This course includes advanced theory, principles, and instrument<br />
techniques used in clinical chemistry. Prerequisite: MLT 130.<br />
MLT 241 Medical Lab Transition (3-0-3)<br />
This course correlates laboratory procedures and concepts, with<br />
emphasis on higher level cognitive applications. Prerequisites:<br />

MLT 251 Clinical Experience I (0-15-5)<br />
This course provides an integrated, clinically based rotation<br />
which correlates cognitive and technical skills in selected areas<br />
of the clinical laboratory. Prerequisites: All first year courses.<br />
MLT 252 Clinical Experience II (0-15-5)<br />
This course provides an integrated, clinically based rotation<br />
which correlates cognitive and technical skills in selected areas<br />
of the clinical laboratory. Prerequisite: MLT 251.<br />
MLT 253 Clinical Experience III (0-15-5)<br />
This course provides an integrated, clinically based rotation<br />
which correlates cognitive and technical skills in selected areas<br />
of the clinical laboratory. Prerequisite: MLT 252.<br />
MLT 254 Clinical Experience IV (0-15-5)<br />
This course provides an integrated, clinically based rotation<br />
which correlates cognitive and technical skills in selected areas<br />
of the clinical laboratory. Prerequisite: MLT 253.<br />
(MTT)—MACHINE TOOL TECHNOLOGY<br />
MTT 101 Introduction to Machine Tool (1-3-2)<br />
This course covers the basics in measuring tools, layout tools,<br />
bench tools, and basic operations of lathes, mills, and drill presses.<br />
MTT 105 Machine Tool Math Applications (3-0-3)<br />
This course is a study of shop math relevant to the machine<br />
tool trade.<br />
MTT 121 Machine Tool Theory I (3-0-3)<br />
This course covers the principles involved in the production<br />
of precision metal parts.<br />
MTT 122 Machine Tool Practice I (1-9-4)<br />
This course covers practical experiences using the principles<br />
in Machine Tool Theory I. Corequisite: MTT 121.<br />
MTT 123 Machine Tool Theory II (3-0-3)<br />
This course covers the principles involved in machining parts<br />
using machine tools, including lathes, mills, drill presses, jig<br />
bores, and the attachments for each. Prerequisite: MTT 121.<br />
MTT 124 Machine Tool Practice II (1-9-4)<br />
This course covers the practical application of the principles<br />
in Machine Tool Theory II. Prerequisite: MTT 122. Corequisite:<br />
MTT 123.<br />
MTT 125 Machine Tool Theory III (3-0-3)<br />
This course covers the principles involved in the machining,<br />
heat treating, and grinding of complex metal parts.<br />
Prerequisite: MTT 123.<br />
MTT 126 Machine Tool Practice III (1-9-4)<br />
This course covers the practical application of the principles<br />
in Machine Tool Theory III. Prerequisite: MTT 124.<br />
Corequisite: MTT 125.<br />
MTT 141 Metals and Heat Treatment (3-0-3)<br />
This course is a study of the properties, characteristics, and<br />
heat treatment procedures of metals.<br />
