Pre-Health Information Management<br />
PROGRAM INFORMATION<br />
<strong>Tri</strong>-<strong>County</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers the Health Information<br />
Management 1+1 program in cooperation with<br />
Greenville <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>. <strong>Tri</strong>-<strong>County</strong> offers the Pre-<br />
Health Information Management Assistant Certificate as<br />
the first phase of the Health Information Management<br />
program. The second phase is offered at Greenville<br />
<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Completion of both phases (I & II)<br />
prepares students to maintain components of health information<br />
systems and to analyze and evaluate technical<br />
and highly sensitive information in health records.<br />
Graduates perform tasks related to the use, analysis, validation,<br />
presentation, abstracting, coding, storage, security,<br />
retrieval, quality measurement, and control of health<br />
care data. They may perform these duties in many<br />
diverse health care settings.<br />

SCHEDULING AND ENTRY OPTIONS<br />
This is a 1+1 program in conjunction with Greenville<br />
<strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong>. The <strong>Tri</strong>-<strong>County</strong> Phase I portion of the<br />
program is offered in the day or evening. Students may<br />
enroll any term. Students will be accepted into the second<br />
phase of the program at Greenville <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
on a first-come basis after the required criteria have<br />
been completed. Greenville <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong> will<br />
accept three students from <strong>Tri</strong>-<strong>County</strong> <strong>Technical</strong> <strong>College</strong><br />
each fall semester. Required course work for the first<br />
phase at <strong>Tri</strong>-<strong>County</strong> must be completed in the spring<br />
semester prior to entry into phase two in the fall semester.<br />
It is the student’s responsibility to be sure that his/<br />
her name has been placed on the class list for the desired<br />
entry date into the second phase of the program. There<br />
is no limitation on completing the first phase of the<br />
program, EXCEPT: CPT 170 may not be taken more<br />
than five years prior to entering the second phase of the<br />
program.<br />
