Phlebotomy
PROGRAM INFORMATION
The Phlebotomy certificate program prepares students
to draw blood and prepare it for testing by laboratory
personnel. The certificate requires courses in anatomy
and physiology, CPR, and phlebotomy techniques, including
clinical practice hours. Students who wish to be
certified must take a national certification exam for phlebotomists.
Passage of the certification exam (offered by
the American Society of Clinical Pathologists) aids the
student in achieving a higher salary and is a program
expectation.
SCHEDULING AND ENTRY OPTIONS
Classes are taught in the day or evening. Two terms are
required to complete the requirements for the certificate.
Clinical experience in the second term will be scheduled
at any time during the day or night; therefore, it is
necessary for students to plan accordingly.
