BIO 110 General Anatomy and Physiology (3-0-3)<br />

This course is a general introduction to the anatomy and physiology<br />

of the human body. Emphasis is on the organ systems of<br />

the human and their interrelationships. Prerequisite: Either<br />

high school biology or BIO 100.<br />

BIO 112 Basic Anatomy and Physiology (3-3-4)<br />

This course is a basic integrated study of the structure and function<br />

of the human body. Topics include the anatomy and physiology<br />

of cells, tissues, organs, and systems. Lab requirement<br />

supplements lectures. Prerequisite: Either high school biology<br />

or BIO 100.<br />

BIO 115 Basic Microbiology (2-3-3)<br />

This is a general course in microbiology, including epidemiology,<br />

presence, control, and identification of microorganisms.<br />

The microorganisms studied will include bacteria, fungi, and<br />

viruses. Lab requirement supplements lectures. Prerequisite:<br />

Either high school biology or BIO 100.<br />

BIO 210 Anatomy and Physiology I (3-3-4)<br />

This is the first in a sequence of courses, including an intensive<br />

coverage of the body as an integrated whole. All body systems<br />

are studied. Topics include terminology, atoms, molecules,<br />

cells, cell physiology, tissues, and the following systems:<br />

integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, special senses. Lab<br />

requirement supplements lectures. Prerequisites: BIO 100 and<br />

CHM 100. (UNIVERSITY TRANSFER)<br />

BIO 211 Anatomy and Physiology II (3-3-4)<br />

This is a continuation of a sequence of courses, including intensive<br />

coverage of the body as an integrated whole. All body<br />

systems are studied. A continuation of BIO 210, the following<br />

systems are studied: endocrine, circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory,<br />

digestive, urinary, fluids and electrolytes, reproductive.<br />

Lab requirement supplements lectures. Prerequisite: BIO 210.<br />

BIO 225 Microbiology (3-3-4)<br />

This is a detailed study of microbiology as it relates to infection<br />

and the disease processes of the body. Topics include<br />

immunity, epidemiology, medically important microorganisms,<br />

and diagnostic procedures for identification. Lab requirement<br />

supplements lectures. Prerequisites: BIO 100 and CHM 100.<br />

BIO 240 Nutrition (3-0-3)<br />

This course is an introduction to the essential aspects concerning<br />

the science of nutrition. Particular emphasis is on the classes<br />

of nutrients and their physiological uses in the body. Body energy<br />

requirements and the nutritional status of the world are<br />

considered. Prerequisite: BIO 100.<br />

BUS 101 Introduction to Business (3-0-3)<br />

This course is a study of the nature of business activity in relation<br />

to the economy and society, including how a business is<br />

owned, organized, managed, and controlled. Topics include<br />

finance, marketing, production, quality assurance, and<br />

international business issues.<br />

BUS 121 Business Law I (3-0-3)<br />

This course is a study of legal procedures, law and society, classifications<br />

and systems of law, the tribunals administering justice<br />

and their actions, contracts, sales, transfer of titles, rights<br />

and duties of the parties, conditions, and warranties.<br />

BUS 210 Introduction to E-Commerce in<br />

Business (3-0-3)<br />

This course is the study of electronic commerce and the operations<br />

and applications from the business perspective. Emphasis is<br />

placed on business concepts and strategies and how they apply<br />

to the process of buying and selling goods and services online.<br />

BUS 220 Business Ethics (3-0-3)<br />

This course includes an exploration of ethical issues arising in<br />

the context of doing business. Representative topics: employee<br />

rights and responsibilities, corporate regulations and rights,<br />

discrimination, truth in advertising, employee privacy, environmental<br />

exploitation and free enterprise.<br />

BUS 230 Purchasing (3-0-3)<br />

This course is a study of the concepts and techniques involved<br />

in the efficient acquisition and management of purchased goods<br />

in business and/or industrial firms.<br />

BUS 260 Insurance Principles (3-0-3)<br />

This course is a study of the types of insurance companies,<br />

varieties of coverage, and the relation of insurance to business<br />

activity, the national economy, and personal interests.<br />

BUS 268 Special Projects in Business (3-0-3)<br />

This course includes research, reporting, and special activities<br />

for successful employment in the business world. Prerequisites:<br />

ENG 155 and student must have completed at least 33 semester<br />

hours toward AB degree.<br />

(CHM)—CHEMISTRY<br />

CHM 100 Introductory Chemistry (4-0-4)<br />

This is an introductory course in general chemistry and principles<br />

of chemistry. Emphasis is placed on mathematical solutions<br />

and laboratory techniques. Biomedical chemistry<br />

concepts, simple stoichiometry, determining and balancing<br />

equations, and pH calculations will be stressed. Intended for<br />

students with no chemistry background or those in need of<br />

review. (Credits earned for this course cannot be used toward<br />

graduation requirements.)<br />

CHM 105 General Organic & Biochemistry (3-3-4)<br />

This course is a study of the fundamental principles of chemistry,<br />

including atomic and molecular structure, common substances<br />

and reactions, introduction to organic chemistry and<br />

biochemistry. Prerequisite: CHM 100<br />
