Noting <strong>Grievous</strong> <strong>Wolf</strong>’s fixation with ‘the Greek,’ see Questions 5, 11, 15, 17, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 30,<br />

31, 32, 38, 39, 40, 46, Dr Mrs Riplinger’s summary from In Awe of Thy Word p 956 bears careful reflection.<br />

“Authority must remain with the Bible in use, not with the critical edition of one man or one ecclesiastical<br />

tradition. Scrivener’s [based on Beza’s 1598 Edition] and Berry’s [based on Stephanus’ 1550 Edition]<br />

printed editions are not ‘authoritative’ or to be regarded as ‘the Original Greek’ “in microscopic<br />

points of detail,” where they differ from the manuscript tradition or the King James Bible and other<br />

great vernacular Bibles (Cambridge History of the Bible, vol. 2, p 499)…These particular editions were<br />

never read and used by the masses of Greek-speaking true Christians.<br />

“It must be remembered that even the 5200 existing handwritten Greek manuscripts were the product of<br />

the Greek Orthodox Church. Its membership has never been made up of true believers. The scriptures<br />

have been entrusted to the priesthood of true believers, just as they were entrusted to the Hebrew priests<br />

in the Old Testament. Unbelievers, Greek speaking or otherwise, cannot discern spiritual things…<br />

“The desire to appear intelligent or superior by referring to ‘the Greek’ and downplaying the common<br />

man’s Bible, exposes a naivety concerning textual history and those documents which today’s pseudointellectuals<br />

call ‘the critical text,’ ‘the original Greek,’ the ‘Majority Text,’ or the ‘Textus Receptus.’<br />

There existed a true original Greek (i.e. Majority Text, Textus Receptus). It is not in print and never<br />

will be, because it is unnecessary. No one on the planet speaks first century Koine Greek, so God is finished<br />

with it. He needs no ‘Dead Bible Society’ to translate it into “everyday English,” using the same<br />

corrupt secularised lexicons used by the TNIV, NIV, NASB and HCSB [Holman Christian Standard Bible].<br />

God has not called readers to check his Holy Bible <strong>for</strong> errors. He has called his Holy Bible to<br />

check us <strong>for</strong> errors.<br />

“What Would Jesus Do?<br />

Inspire a Bible people can read?<br />

Inspire conflicting Greek editions which few can read?<br />

Inspire unsaved liberals to write conflicting Greek lexicons to translate conflicting one-man Greek<br />

editions?<br />

Inspire originals then lose them?” (author’s emphasis)<br />

Those are salutary remarks <strong>for</strong> all serious students of the bible translation issue. What <strong>Grievous</strong> <strong>Wolf</strong><br />

would make of them, though, is anybody’s guess.<br />

47. Which reading is the verbally (word-<strong>for</strong>-word) inspired word of God to be the inerrant scripture –<br />

“whom ye” [Cambridge KJV’s] or, “whom he” [Ox<strong>for</strong>d KJV’s] at Jeremiah 34:16?<br />

Jeremiah 34:16 is a verse that arch-Bible critic James White put <strong>for</strong>ward as one of seven ‘errors’ in the<br />

1611 Holy Bible and which Dr Ruckman answered in successive issues of the Bible Believers Bulletin.<br />

carried the details of Dr Ruckman’s response to White’s challenge.<br />

The following explanation is from the <strong>Time</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Truth</strong> site, with respect to James White’s contempt <strong>for</strong><br />

the 1611 Holy Bible that matches that of his fellow blind guide, <strong>Grievous</strong> <strong>Wolf</strong>. It is entitled James<br />

White’s 7 “Errors.”<br />

Dr Ruckman has some explanatory comments about Jeremiah 34:16. See below. They are sufficient<br />

<strong>for</strong> a bible believer - though not <strong>for</strong> James White. He insists that because the different readings are still<br />

found in different editions of the AV1611, “The person who does not make the KJV the absolute authority…has<br />

an easy answer; look at the Hebrew text and find out…[and] the Hebrew is plural<br />

here…the correct translation is the plural “you,” i.e. “ye,” which is, in fact, the reading found in the<br />

AV 1611.”<br />

But only because “the Hebrew is plural here” [i.e. White insists that only “the Hebrew” is trustworthy,<br />

not the 1611 Holy Bible as such, because two different editions have different readings]. According to
