Summary of Benefits
RETIREE HEALTH COVERAGE
The program under the Texas Public School Retired Employees
Group Benefits Act, known as TRS-Care, makes available a
basic level of health coverage without cost to eligible TRS
public school retirees. Eligible retirees and their eligible
dependents may pay premiums and participate in one of
two plans of more comprehensive benefits and coverage.

TRS website.
LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE PROGRAM
Eligible active and retired members, their dependents, and
certain other family members may participate in the TRS
long-term care insurance program. The plan pays benefits
if the participant becomes unable to perform at least two
activities of daily living without substantial assistance from
another person. The plan also pays benefits as a result of
a severe cognitive impairment that requires supervision or
verbal direction from another person in order to protect the
member or others from serious injury.
