Summary of Benefits<br />

RETIREE HEALTH COVERAGE<br />

The program under the Texas Public School Retired Employees<br />

Group Benefits Act, known as <strong>TRS</strong>-Care, makes available a<br />

basic level of health coverage without cost to eligible <strong>TRS</strong><br />

public school retirees. Eligible retirees and their eligible<br />

dependents may pay premiums and participate in one of<br />

two plans of more comprehensive benefits and coverage.<br />

For information on <strong>TRS</strong>-Care eligibility, please refer to the<br />

<strong>TRS</strong> website.<br />

LONG-TERM CARE INSURANCE PROGRAM<br />

Eligible active and retired members, their dependents, and<br />

certain other family members may participate in the <strong>TRS</strong><br />

long-term care insurance program. The plan pays benefits<br />

if the participant becomes unable to perform at least two<br />

activities of daily living without substantial assistance from<br />

another person. The plan also pays benefits as a result of<br />

a severe cognitive impairment that requires supervision or<br />

verbal direction from another person in order to protect the<br />

member or others from serious injury.<br />
