Face off for Fitness
“Face Off for Fitness” is a program designed to show children the importance of choosing a healthy
lifestyle. Members of the Philadelphia Flyers Community Relations staff take this message to area schools,
recreation centers, and after-school programs to
educate children on the benefits of eating healthy
and exercising. Fun activities along with players
favorite nutritional recipies are used to increase
nutritional awareness and encourage children to
make proper decisions based on their knowledge of
a healthy lifestyle. For more information, or to book a
FOFF program, please call us at 215-218-4334 or email
us at JTempesta@comcast-spectacor.com.
Holiday Initiatives
During the Holidays the Philadelphia Flyers
organization takes a leading role in the community
while engaging our fan base in the effort as well!
Previous initiatives have included the player’s Holiday
visit to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, a
“pre-game meal” at the Ronald McDonald House,
and “trick-or-treating” through St. Christopher’s
Hospital for Children. This past season the Flyers
also teamed up with the Salvation Army and Child
Abuse Prevention Effort to build a toy mountain of
gifts donated by the Flyers themselves and fans of
the community.
Awareness Nights
The Community Relations Department embraces the
role of community leader and uses that position to
address and create awareness to existing and new
initiatives. Past awareness nights have touched on
Breast Cancer, Diabetes, Autism, and Heart Health.
The Flyers are also involved with local initiatives such
as Philadelphia Animal Wellness Society (PAWS),
promoting the adoption and well being of homeless
animals, Greater Philadelphia Cares Coat Drive, and
Philabundance Food Drive.
