Upper Black Warrior River (0316-0112)<br />

Sub-<strong>Water</strong>shed: Upper Big Yellow Creek NRCS Sub-<strong>Water</strong>shed Number 050<br />

Landuse: The Upper Big Yellow Creek sub-watershed drains approximately 46 mi 2 in<br />

Tuscaloosa, Fayette, and Walker Counties. Land cover within the sub-watershed was<br />

primarily forest. No current stormwater authorizations, NPDES permits, or CAFO<br />

registrations have been issued in the sub-watershed (Appendix B). A 20.7 mile segment <strong>of</strong><br />

Big Yelow Creek is on ADEM’s 2002 CWA §303(d) list <strong>of</strong> impaired waterbodies for not<br />

meeting its “Swimming” and “Fish and Wildlife” water use clasifications (Appendix C-2).<br />

It is listed for high metals concentrations from abandoned surface mines.<br />
