Contour Drawing<br />
2 Have students review <strong>and</strong> discuss the assessment task <strong>and</strong> how<br />
the rubric will be used to evaluate their work.<br />
3 Ask each student to create a contour drawing of his/her h<strong>and</strong> on<br />
8-1/2" x 11" paper. Thirty minutes will be allowed for the final<br />
drawing. No coaching will be allowed during the assessment.<br />
4 Evaluate each student’s work using the “Contour Drawing<br />
Rubric” as follows:<br />
• Knowledge: Demonstrated a strong grasp of concepts related<br />
to contour <strong>and</strong> cross-contour drawing<br />
• Process: The contour drawing of the h<strong>and</strong> was complete <strong>and</strong><br />
well-executed in terms of its technique, line quality, shading,<br />
proportional realism, <strong>and</strong> craftsmanship.<br />
• Creative Expression: The expression of mood was<br />
effectively created through the use of various lines, the h<strong>and</strong><br />
position <strong>and</strong> the details <strong>and</strong> embellishments used in the<br />
contour drawing.<br />
