b) Gross household income over R8000<br />
i) The down-payment will be equal to 50% of the existing debt<br />

2. If you are a business consumer, Council may entertain one more arrangement with the following<br />
stipulations:<br />
a) The down-payment will be equal to 50% of the existing debt<br />
b) The balance is payable over 6 months plus the current monthly account interest free,<br />
provided payments are made by the due date each month<br />
What will happen if I break this final arrangement?<br />
1. No further arrangements will be entered into and all debt will be due and payable.<br />
2. If the required payments are not made, debt collection action will be instituted immediately,<br />
which can include the following:<br />
a) Disconnection of electricity supply.<br />
b) Restriction or disconnection of water supply.<br />
c) Blocking from buying electricity on the prepayment system.<br />
d) Legal proceedings to collect arrears.<br />
e) Selling of household furniture.<br />
f) Selling of fixed properties.<br />
What will happen if I am handed over to collection agents for failing to pay my account?<br />
1. If you were handed, you will have to approach the agent in order to make arrangements to settle<br />
tour arrears.<br />
2. It is important that while payments are being made to the collection agents your current<br />
account must be kept up to date with the <strong>Municipal</strong>ity.<br />

What are the free basic services?<br />
1. Each indigent consumer will receive a basic supply of water and electricity free each month.<br />
2. The quantity and value of the free supply will be in accordance with council policy and may be<br />
adjusted from time to time.<br />
Will I still receive my free electricity if my prepayment meter is blocked?<br />
1. Yes, the computer system will still allow you to receive your free token.<br />
How do I get my free electricity and water?<br />
1. The free portion of the water will be deducted from your monthly account.<br />
2. The free portion of the electricity will be deducted from your monthly account.<br />
3. You need to ask your prepayment electricity vendor or cashier for your free token.<br />
