Protect Yourself Always Ask
for Identification
Before allowing anyone into
your home or property, always
ask for identification. Boston
Water and Sewer Commission
(BWSC) employees and
consultants are required to provide you with an
official photo ID card.
BWSC employees on the road never ask for money.
Payments are only accepted by mail, at the BWSC
main office, online at www.bwsc.org or at a designated
neighborhood payment location (see list on the left).
If you are unsure about letting a BWSC employee
into your home, call (617) 989-7000 for verification.

Boston’s Leaf & Yard Waste Collection
October 18 to November 27
Leaves can become slippery and heavy when wet.
Removing leaves keeps walkways safe and helps
stormwater properly drain into catch basins. Every
year the Boston Public Works Department helps
city homeowners recycle leaves and yard waste by
providing free curbside collection. This yard waste
is recycled and composed to be used as a natural
fertilizer for Boston’s community gardens.
Note: There is no yard waste pick-up between
October 1 - 15. Residents should hold their yard
waste for the collection days.
Guidelines
■ Leaves, grass and twigs can be placed in
paper leaf bags or open barrels labeled
“yard waste” (no plastic bags).
■ “Yard Waste” stickers for barrels are
available by calling 617-635-4500 or online
at www.cityofboston.gov.
■ Tie branches with string, 3 ft. maximum length.
Do not put branches in barrels.
■ Put barrels, bags and branches on the curb
by 7:00 am on your Recycling Day from
October 18 through November 27, 2010.
