WASHINGTON
American Fflra Institute will premiere "Be-
Iween the lines." Filmmaker Joan
Micklin Silver and her producer husband
will introduce the picture's first local screening
in the AFI Theatre Friday evening (15).
A press showing of "Between the Lines"
will be held in AFI's screening room Friday
morning (15). Following the unspooling,
members of the media have been invited to
meet the film's director and producer.
The Star,
under the caption "Two (Films)
for the Winners' Circle: A Field Day for
Anarchy," published the following: "Hitting
town on a single day—Friday (1)
were two movies you're sure to be hearing a
lot about. Both, in part, deal with athletic
events, both use sports as the canvas for
larger portraits. But there the similarity
ends. Paramount's 'Black Sunday' (at several
area theatres) is a tense drama of political
warfare. Universal's 'Slap Shot' (at
the K-B Fine Arts) is a comedy about an
aging coach and his hockey team. Despite
a major reservation concerning the latter
entry. Star film critic Tom Dowling liked
them both" ... In an editorial, the Star
stated in part: "Knock It Off, Cher. A
someone called 'Cher' has been gently admonished
by James Earl Carter for aspers'ons
about his new hometown. It appears
that the 'Cher' recently referred on TV to
Washington as the 'crime capital' of the
nation. The President went straightaway to
the telephone and called the 'Cher' and suggested
that one-liners for TV should be fed
on different fodder."
The world premiere of "Billy Jack Goes
to Washington" has been rescheduled. As
of press time, the date either will be Thursday
(21) or Friday (22). It is uncertain, as
previously planned, whether the premiere
will b; a "Siege in Washington" benefit for
families of seriously wounded hostages.
Brut Productions' "Nasty Habits" had a
;
full-page advert sement in the local Sundaypapers
prior to its Wednesday (6) unreeling
at the K-B Cinema. The film, a George
Barrie-Robert Enders production, parodies
Watergate in a convent setting. The picture
has been scored in New York by the National
Coalition of American Nuns. Local
distributor Herbert Schwartz of h/i/s Pictures,
insists the feature is a tongue-in-
