RULE 4 / DEFINITIONS<br />
i. Simultaneous technical foul. A simultaneous technical foul occurs when<br />
there is a technical foul committed by each team, at approximately the<br />
same time, but not by opponents against each other.<br />
Art. 4. False double foul. A false double foul occurs when there are fouls by<br />
both teams, the second of which occurs before the game clock is started after it<br />
is stopped for the first.<br />
Art. 5. Multiple foul. A multiple foul occurs when two or more teammates<br />
commit personal fouls against the same opponent at approximately the same time.<br />
Art. 6. False multiple foul. A false multiple foul occurs when there are two or<br />
more fouls by the same team such that the last foul is committed before the game<br />
clock is started after it is stopped for the first, and such that at least one of the<br />
attributes of a multiple foul is absent.<br />
Section 30. Free Throw<br />
Art. 1. A free throw is the privilege given a player to score one point by an<br />
unhindered try for goal from within the free-throw semicircle and behind the<br />
free-throw line.<br />
Art. 2. A free throw starts when the ball is placed at the disposal of the freethrower.<br />
Art. 3. A free throw ends when:<br />
a. The try is successful;<br />
b. It is certain the try will not be successful;<br />
c. The try touches the floor or any player; or<br />
d. The ball becomes dead.<br />
Section 31. Fumble<br />
Art. 1. A fumble shall be the accidental loss of player control when the ball<br />
unintentionally drops or slips from a player’s grasp.<br />
Art. 2. A fumble may be legally recovered by any player.<br />
Section 32. Game Clock<br />
The game clock shall be the official, visible timepiece on which the time<br />
remaining in a period shall be displayed.<br />
Section 33. Goal<br />
Art. 1. A goal shall be made when:<br />
a. A live ball that is not a throw-in enters the basket from above and remains<br />
in or passes through the basket; or<br />
b. A free throw enters the basket from above and remains in or passes<br />
through the basket.<br />
Art. 2. Whether the game clock is running or stopped shall have no bearing on<br />
the counting of a goal.<br />
Section 34. Goaltending<br />
Art. 1. Goaltending occurs when a defensive player touches the ball during a<br />
field-goal try and each of the following conditions is met: (Exceptions: Rules<br />
10-3.6; 10-6.1.i)<br />
a. The ball is on its downward flight; and
