RULE 10 / FOULS <strong>AND</strong> PENALTIES93<br />

1. A personal foul against a player who attempts a field goal and<br />

whose try is unsuccessful.<br />

2. A flagrant 1 or flagrant 2 personal foul and the ball awarded to<br />

the offended team at a designated spot nearest to where the foul<br />

occurred.<br />

(a) Any flagrant 2 personal foul shall result in ejection of the<br />

offender.<br />

3. (Women) A blocking personal foul against the airborne shooter<br />

when the basket is missed.<br />

4. Each common foul committed by the defensive team, beginning<br />

with a team’s 10th foul of the half.<br />

5. Each flagrant 2 personal foul of a multiple personal foul and the<br />

ball awarded to the offended team at a designated spot nearest to<br />

where the foul occurred.<br />

6. The situation when either personal foul of a multiple foul is a<br />

flagrant 1 or flagrant 2 personal foul , after which the ball shall be<br />

awarded at a designated spot nearest to where the foul occurred.<br />

7. Each foul of a multiple foul when a three-point try is unsuccessful.<br />

e. Three free throws for:<br />

A personal foul against a player who attempts a three-point field goal<br />

and whose try is unsuccessful. When the personal foul is a flagrant<br />

1 or flagrant 2 personal foul, the ball also shall be awarded to the<br />

offended team at a designated spot nearest to where the foul occurred.<br />

f. Point of interruption for any double personal fouls or simultaneous<br />

personal fouls unless only one of the fouls is a flagrant foul, in which<br />

case, play shall be resumed with a throw-in to the offended team at<br />

the point of interruption.<br />

g. In the case of a false double foul or a false multiple foul, each foul<br />

shall carry its own penalty. When one of the fouls is a technical foul<br />

(single or double), play shall be resumed at the point of interruption.<br />

[Exception: A single flagrant 2 technical foul, a single contact dead<br />

ball technical foul or (women) an administrative technical foul for an<br />

excessive timeout].<br />

1. After the last free throw after a false double/multiple foul (Rule<br />

4-29.4), the ball shall be put in play as if the penalty for the last foul<br />

of the false double/multiple foul were the only one administered<br />

when the last foul was a single flagrant 2 technical foul, a single<br />

contact dead ball technical foul or (women) an administrative<br />

technical foul for an excessive timeout.<br />

h. Personal-foul penalty exception: After the game-clock horn sounds<br />

to end the second half or an extra period, only those free throw(s)<br />

necessary to determine a winner or whether an(other) extra period is<br />

necessary shall be awarded.<br />

Section 2. Administrative Technical Fouls<br />

Art. 1. The home team shall comply with the following court/equipment<br />

requirements:
