RULE 7 / OUT OF BOUNDS <strong>AND</strong> THE THROW-IN79<br />
h. The last free throw for a flagrant personal foul.<br />
i. Any double personal or technical fouls, simultaneous personal or<br />
technical fouls. (Exception: Rule 10-1 Penalty f)<br />
j. An inadvertent whistle.<br />
k. A held ball as in Rule 4-37.<br />
Section 5. Out of Bounds, Ball in Play from<br />
Art. 1. When the ball is out of bounds after any violation as outlined in Rules 9-3<br />
through 9-14, an official shall place the ball at the disposal of an opponent of the<br />
player who committed the violation for a throw-in from the same designated spot<br />
nearest to where the violation occurred.<br />
Art. 2. When a throw-in provision is violated, the new throw-in shall be from the<br />
same designated spot as that of the original throw-in.<br />
Art. 3. After a dead ball, as listed in Rule 7-4.1.d, any player of the team in<br />
control shall make the throw-in from a designated spot nearest to where the dead<br />
ball occurred.<br />
Art. 4. After a common foul before the bonus rule takes effect, any player of the<br />
offended team shall make the throw-in from a designated spot nearest to where<br />
the foul occurred.<br />
Art. 5. Anytime a player-control foul or team-control foul occurs, any player of<br />
the offended team shall make the throw-in from the designated spot nearest to<br />
where the foul occurred.<br />
Art. 6. After a successful goal as listed in Rule 7-4.1.c,<br />
a. The team not credited with the score shall make the throw-in from the end<br />
of the court where the goal was made and it shall make the throw-in from<br />
any point out of bounds on the end line when the following occurs:<br />
1. A common foul is committed near the end line before the bonus is in<br />
effect;<br />
2. A flagrant 1 or 2 personal or (women) a flagrant 2 technical foul by the<br />
defensive team is committed near the end line;<br />
3. A goaltending or basket interference violation by the defensive team;<br />
4. The ball is intentionally kicked by the defensive team along the end<br />
line during the throw-in; or<br />
5. A timeout is granted.<br />
b. In 7-5.6.a.1 through .5, any player of the throw-in team may make a direct<br />
throw-in or may pass the ball along the end line to a teammate(s) who is<br />
also out of bounds.<br />
Art. 7. After a technical foul, any eligible player or team member of the offended<br />
team may attempt the free throws, and the ball shall be put back in play at the<br />
point of interruption.<br />
[Exceptions: A single flagrant 2 technical foul before the start of the game<br />
or extra period, play shall resume by awarding the ball to the offended team<br />
at a designated spot at the division line on either side of the playing court.<br />
(Men) After a single flagrant 2 technical foul or a single contact dead ball<br />
technical foul, play shall resume by awarding the ball to the offended team<br />
at a designated spot at the division line on either side of the playing court.
