RULE 8 / FREE THROW<br />
A single flagrant 2 technical foul, a single contact dead ball technical foul or<br />
(women) an administrative technical foul for an excessive timeout.]<br />
a. When a technical foul is assessed during the intermission for halftime,<br />
the point of interruption shall be a throw-in for the team with the<br />
alternating-possession arrow in its favor. Exceptions: A single flagrant 2<br />
technical foul, a single contact dead ball technical foul or (women) an<br />
administrative technical foul for an excessive timeout.<br />
Section 5. Ball in Play When Free Throw Is Missed<br />
When a free throw for a personal foul is unsuccessful, or when there is a multiple<br />
free throw for a personal foul and the last free throw is unsuccessful, the ball<br />
shall remain live.<br />
Section 6. Ball in Play After False Double Foul<br />
Art. 1. After the last free throw for a false double foul (See Rule 4-29.4), the ball<br />
shall be put in play as if the penalty for the last foul of the false double foul were<br />
the only one administered when the last foul was a single flagrant 2 technical foul,<br />
a single contact dead ball technical foul or (women) an administrative technical<br />
foul for an excessive timeout.<br />
Art. 2. When one of the fouls of a false double foul is a technical foul (single<br />
or double), play shall be resumed at the point of interruption unless one of the<br />
double fouls is a single flagrant 2 technical foul, single contact dead ball technical<br />
foul or (women) an administrative technical foul for an excessive timeout. In such<br />
a case apply 8-6.1.<br />
Art. 3. When the last foul is any double foul, play shall resume at the point of<br />
interruption. (Exception: Rule 10-1 Penalty f)<br />
Section 7. Ball in Play After False Multiple Foul<br />
Art. 1. After the last free throw for a false multiple foul (Rule 4-29.4), the ball<br />
shall be put in play as if the penalty for the last foul of the false multiple foul were<br />
the only one administered when the last foul was a single flagrant 2 technical foul,<br />
single contact dead ball technical foul or (women) an administrative technical<br />
foul for an excessive timeout.<br />
