Fail-safe communication –<br />
PROFIBUS and PROFINET with PROFIsafe profile<br />
PROFIBUS or PROFINET – Standard and safety-related data<br />
on a single fieldbus<br />
• PROFIsafe is a profile for PROFIBUS and<br />
PROFINET specified in accordance with<br />
IEC 61784-3-3. PROFIsafe complies with<br />
the following safety levels:<br />
– Safety Integrity Level SIL 3 (IEC 61508,<br />
EN 62061)<br />
– Category 4 (EN 954-1)<br />
– Performance Level e (EN ISO 13849 -1:<br />
2006)<br />
• The PROFIsafe profile is an open profile that allows cross-vendor<br />
integration of field devices<br />
• PROFIsafe permits innovative approaches such as wireless fail-safe<br />
communication over IWLAN and PROFINET, e.g. using the SIMATIC<br />
Mobile Panel 277F IWLAN with integrated safety function<br />
