OPTION 2: EMPLOYED STUDENT TUTORED<br />
EDUCATION PROGRAM (eSTEP) – PART-TIME<br />
This option is for individuals employed as non-certified<br />
health care aides seeking certification while continuing to<br />
work.<br />

Program Dates<br />
Offering 1: September 4, 2012 to February 8, 2013<br />
Offering 2: February 11, 2013 to June 28, 2013<br />

Program Dates<br />
Students may start in any month (with exception of July<br />
and August) if they are registered by the 20th day of the<br />
previous month.<br />
Once enrolled in the eSTEP route, students will have up to<br />
one year to complete the program. A six-month extension<br />
may be granted if required.<br />
Entrance Requirements<br />
Academic Prerequisites:<br />
• Credit in English 10-1 or English10-2 or equivalent,<br />
• Credit in Math10-1 or equivalent is strongly<br />
recommended.<br />
Non-Academic Requirements:<br />
• Fluency in English.<br />
Mode of Delivery<br />

Notes:<br />
• A Criminal Record Check, completed within the last three<br />
months, will be required before attending practicum.<br />
The existence of a criminal record may affect practicum<br />
placement, program completion and employments prospects.<br />
• Students must provide an updated immunization record<br />
prior to practicum placements.<br />
Mode of Delivery<br />
This distance program is a self-study on-line program.<br />
The program provides tutorial support, asynchronous<br />
classroom discussion and online resources. The student is<br />
able to pace the program to meet their needs allowing them<br />
to balance work and other personal commitments with<br />
their study schedule.<br />

Theory classes are supported by computer-based lectures<br />
and on-line learning. On days other than theory, students<br />
are expected to attend their local campus to complete<br />
self-study. There are two, 1-week long lab skills seminars<br />
during the program, which are held in a central location.<br />
In addition, students complete a 5-week practicum, which<br />
may be outside of their home community. Students are<br />
responsible for all expenses for travel to labs and practicum<br />
placements.<br />
