3.31.10.2 Non Control Fuel & Illegal Fuel<br />

Fuel samples may be taken by any person or organisation authorised by the<br />

organisers or the Permitting Body at any time or place during the meeting.<br />

They may authorise Tests by a fuel analyst on their behalf to ensure that fuel<br />

complies with fuel regulations at events. The findings regarding compliance<br />

with control fuel, when specified, will be final.<br />

However, if they find that the fuel is illegal the competitor may challenge thse<br />

findings in which case the following procedure will be adopted:<br />

a) Two samples will be taken and collected in purpose made containers,<br />

sealed and identified.<br />

b) One sample will be taken by a fuel analyst for a full analysis. The second<br />

sample will be retained by the competitor or his representative.<br />

c) If a competitor agrees that the second sample may not be taken the<br />

competitor gives up all right of appeal.<br />

d) If there is not sufficient fuel (2 litres - 1 litre per sample) for two samples<br />

to be taken he will be in contravention of fuel regulations and penalties<br />

will be imposed in accordance with Judicial Procedure.<br />

However, if there is sufficient fuel for only one sample (1 litre) the<br />

competitor may agree that the second sample may not be taken in which<br />

case the competitor gives up all right of appeal.<br />

e) If requested for two-stroke engines the competitor must supply a sample<br />

of the oil being used and the ratio of the mix.<br />

The authorised person or organisation will be responsible for the taking of all<br />

records regarding the test and these will be kept by the secretariat of the<br />

permitting body who will inform all parties involved of the results, as soon as<br />

they are available, in writing.<br />

3.32 COOLANTS<br />

The only liquid engine coolants permitted other than lubricating oil shall be<br />

water. This is to avoid the use of oil based substances which can be<br />

dangerous if spilt onto the circuit.<br />

3.40 EQUIPMENT AND SAFETY CLOTHING<br />

During practising and racing, the riders and passengers must wear the<br />

following clothing and footwear:<br />

3.40.1 Riders must wear a complete leather suit with additional leather padding or<br />

other protection on the principal contact points, knees, elbows, shoulders,<br />

hips etc.<br />

3.40.2 Linings or undergarments must not be made of synthetic material which may<br />

melt and and cause damage to a rider’s skin.<br />

3.40.3 Riders must wear leather gloves and boots, which with the suit provide<br />

complete coverage from the neck down.<br />

3.40.4 Leather substitute materials may be used for gloves, boots and parts of the<br />

suit providing they offer the same protection as described above.<br />

3.40.5 The use of a back protector is highly recommended.<br />

3.40.6 The use of metallic material in any item of clothing or personal protection<br />

which regularly comes into contact with the track is prohibited (i.e. metal<br />

studs/protectors in knee sliders, boots etc).<br />
