3.10 TITANIUM AND LIGHT ALLOYS<br />

The use of titanium in the construction of the frame, the front forks, the<br />

handlebars, the swinging arm, the swinging arm spindles and the wheel<br />

spindles is forbidden. For wheel spindles, the use of light alloys is also<br />

forbidden. The use of titanium alloy nuts and bolts is allowed.<br />

The FIM tests may be applied.<br />

3.10.1 Fasteners – 125GP<br />

Only the original manufacturer’s fasteners of disc rotas/carriers to wheels are<br />

used in the 125 GP class or fasteners of the same material as the original<br />

ones.<br />

3.11 DEFINITION OF A MAINFRAME OF A SOLO MOTORCYCLE<br />

The structure or structures used to join any steering mechanism at the front<br />

of the machine to the engine/gearbox unit and to all components of the rear<br />

suspension.<br />

3.12 STARTING DEVICES<br />

These are only compulsory if stated in the class specification.<br />

3.13 OPEN TRANSMISSION GUARDS<br />

3.13.1 For all motorcycles, if the primary transmission is exposed, it must be fitted<br />

with a guard as a safety measure. The guard must be conceived in such a<br />

manner that under no circumstances can a rider or the passenger come into<br />

accidental contact with the transmission parts. It must be designed to protect<br />

the rider from injuring his fingers.<br />

3.13.2 A (chain) guard must be fitted in such a way as to prevent trapping between<br />

the lower chain run and the final driven sprocket to the rear wheel.<br />

3.14 EXHAUST PIPES<br />

Exhaust pipes and silencers must fulfil all the requirements concerning noise<br />

control.<br />

3.14.1 Exhaust fumes must be discharged towards the rear but not in a manner as<br />

to raise dust, foul the tyres or brakes.<br />

3.14.2 The extremity of the exhaust pipes on solo motorcycles must not pass the<br />

vertical tangent of the rear tyre, if they keep the exhaust pipe system as<br />

originally homologated.<br />

3.14.3 Catalytic converters must be removed.<br />

3.15 HANDLEBARS<br />

3.15.1 The width of handlebars must not be less than 450mm.<br />

3.15.2 The grips must be attached in such a way that at least the minimum width of<br />

handlebars is reached when measured between the outside ends of the<br />

grips.<br />

3.15.3 Exposed handlebar ends must be plugged with a solid material or rubber<br />

covered.<br />

3.15.4 The minimum angle of rotation of the handlebar on each side of the centre<br />

line or mid position must be 15 degrees for solo motorcycles and sidecars.<br />
