Journaling allows you to take thoughts and feeling that<br />

are stirring in your mind and gives you some distance<br />

from them by writing them down. Different forms of<br />

journals and journaling techniques will be explored as<br />

well as the benefits of this powerful tool.<br />

Advanced Hypertufa<br />

(adults)<br />

Constructed from peat moss, perlite and portland<br />

cement, hypertufa objects resemble stone but are lighter<br />

in weight. Each participant will make a leaf casting to<br />

be used as decoration, bird bath or seed feeder. We will<br />

supply latex gloves, but you may wish to bring sturdy,<br />

waterproof rubber gloves. Wear old clothes and shoes<br />

and bring a garden trowel. For your mold, you may bring<br />

a large, sturdy leaf from your garden or use one of ours.<br />

It’s fun, free, easy! Bring perennials in one-quart, one-gallon or two-gallon containers and take home the<br />

same size and number of plants. Please label all plants. Houseplants may also be exchanged, but no annuals<br />

please. Invasive plants will not be accepted; a good list and further information is available at www.njisst.org.<br />

Jersey Shore Rose Society Rose Show<br />

Saturday, September 14<br />

See and learn about our national flower and its culture. Deep Cut Gardens will host the Jersey Shore Rose<br />

Society’s 42nd Annual Rose Show. Entries submitted for judging will remain on exhibit for visitors from<br />

12:30-3:30 PM. Free garden tours will be offered and consulting rosarians will be available to answer your<br />

questions. Admission and parking are free; no pre-registration required. For information on entering roses in<br />

the exhibition, please contact Mary Hahn of the JSRS at 732-316-1871 or email only1mary@gmail.com.<br />
