Adults Introduction to Silver SPURs (ages 55 and up) Have you thought about joining the Silver SPURs riding class but aren’t sure if it’s right for you Try this one-time introductory class and see for yourself if it will fit your needs! Class consists of non-mounted and mounted activities and will cover a barn tour, grooming, tacking, leading, and a short mounted riding lesson. Please Note: For the safety of the horses, participants wishing to ride must weigh 200 pounds or less. A PATH Int. certified therapeutic riding instructor will teach riding and horse handling skills with a focus on safety, balance, and strength. Each class will be tailored to the goals and abilities of the participants. Mounting blocks of varying sizes are available to get on and off the horse. The first two weeks will focus on non-mounted learning and practical skills. Physician’s approval is required. Please Note: For the safety of the horses, participants wishing to ride must weigh 200 pounds or less. For those who do not wish to ride or may be unable to do so, a variety of horse handling skills will be taught. Advanced Wheel-Thrown Pottery (adults) These classes are for students who have experience on the potter’s wheel and are looking to further develop their throwing skills. An opportunity to participate in one or more alternative firing methods such as saggar or barrel will also be offered. Students must be proficient enough to work at their own pace. Class includes 25 lbs. of clay, glazes and bisque firing. Students will be charged per piece for Raku firing at the rate of $0.10 per cubic inch.
