Historic Walnford, Upper Freehold<br />

Quilts from Historic Walnford<br />

You are invited to view six quilts belonging to the<br />

Waln family from two different periods: the end<br />

of the 18th century and the middle of the 19th<br />

century. Made by hand using a variety of materials<br />

and techniques, these quilts are on exhibit daily<br />

from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM on the second floor of the<br />

main house through February 15, 2014.<br />

Pre-cast ceramic items (purchased separately at the<br />

center) will be decorated. Learn about greenware,<br />

bisque, underglaze and glaze. Class fee includes<br />

instruction, tools, firings, underglaze and glaze.<br />

Please join us for an afternoon of history and light<br />

refreshment. Your guided tour of the site will feature<br />

four generations of Walns at Walnford, culminating<br />

in the family’s elegant 1773 home where you will be<br />

served freshly brewed teas and sweet treats prepared<br />

with recipes from the 18th through the early 20th<br />

century.<br />

(ages 7-10)<br />

Use your imagination to create functional or decorative<br />

works of art. Clay projects will be formed by using hand<br />

tools, slab roller, extruder and a variety of other forms.<br />

Class includes 10 lbs. of clay, glazes and firings.<br />

Children’s Wheel-Thrown Pottery<br />

(ages 10-17)<br />

Children will learn techniques and skills in all aspects of<br />

wheel-throwing and hand-building to create items of<br />

their choice. Instructor will offer demonstrations along<br />

with individual guidance. Use of tools, 10 lbs. of clay,<br />

glazes and firings are included in the fee. Additional<br />

clay can be purchased at the studio. Hand builders<br />

welcome.<br />
