The Poet’s Corner<br />

(ages 12-14)<br />

Ever wanted to write an original poem This workshop<br />

will guide you through the creative process with<br />

writing exercises, readings and discussions. You will<br />

write and revise original poems. You will also have the<br />

opportunity to practice reading your poems aloud. At<br />

the end of the session, a poetry reading will be held for<br />

family and friends. Light refreshments will be served.<br />

Using early-blooming bulbs and a few basic tools, we<br />

will create fairy rings in the park in which the fairies can<br />

dance and play to celebrate the coming of spring next<br />

year and for years to come.<br />

Winter Recess Retreat<br />

(ages 8-12)<br />

So your child is stuck at home with nothing to do on<br />

Winter Break, eh We’ll take them! School is out, but<br />

winter camp is in. Each day will be at a different park<br />

with different activities. Activities include Breakfast on<br />

the Farm, the Sonar Experiment, Cross-Country Skiing<br />

clinic, and more! Pick and choose which days you would<br />

like to attend or join us for all three. Transportation is<br />

available from Thompson Park OR meet us at the site<br />

listed below.<br />

Kids Nature Photography Walk<br />

(ages 10 and up, under 18 with adult)<br />

Does your child love taking pictures and nature We will<br />

learn simple photography tips as we explore the beauty<br />

of the world around us. Please remember to bring your<br />

own fully charged camera and extra batteries. (A digital<br />

point and shoot camera is recommended.)<br />

Leaf Shapes & Tree Keys<br />

(ages 8-12)<br />

In this interactive program participants learn how to<br />

identify trees by its leaves using a dichotomous key. We<br />

will have fun discovering the natural history of many<br />

tree species found locally. We will look at an assortment<br />

of leaf shapes before we venture out on a walk through<br />

the woods to discover some of New Jersey’s common<br />

trees.<br />
