Umalusi has in place the required quality assurance measures to
monitor irregularities. The bulk of the irregularities reported in 2005 were
of a general nature that is consistent with the types of irregularities that
have been reported over the years. There were, however some serious
irregularities that were reported and conclusively dealt with by assessment
bodies. On the whole, therefore, the assessment bodies have handled
irregularities that occurred in 2005 with a fair measure of success. The
establishment of the National Examinations Irregularities Committee and
its provincial clones has strengthened the arm of assessment bodies in
dealing with irregularities.
